Bactrim is a sulphonomide drug. It is not in the penicillin family. Amoxil and penicillins are in the penicillin family. There is no cross reaction between penicillins and sulphonomides. As long as you have never had a reaction to sulphonomides or "sulfa" drugs, you should be okay taking Bactrim.
