My doctor put me on Nucynta ER 100 mgs twice a day. He told me if that did not work, I can come back and go up to 250 mg ER tablets. The 100 mg is not helping and since there is a 250 mg ER tablet, is it safe to take 2 100 mg ER tablets at one time.
More than likely you can. However, that will make your prescription run short. Since it's a narcotic, you won't be able to fill it early, plus you run the risk of having your Dr refuse to give you any further prescriptions since running out early is a sign of abusing your medication. I would call the doctor's office, tell them the medication isn't working and see if they'll call in a script for the larger dose. They may ask you to turn in the unused medication you will have left over, and if they do a pill count, you run the same risk of appearing to be abusing it. Since you've obviously found a Dr who appears willing to help you, I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that relationship. Just my thoughts.
