I have been on Yasmin for 3 weeks and had a period that lasted 14 days during this time I stopped taking the pill whilst the bleed happened. After the 14 days I had unprotected sex and could i be at risk of pregnancy? Or am i still covered by Yasmin birth control?
Did you read the directions at all? You take a 7 day break. You don't wait until your period stops to start it. No it doesn't work if you took a 14 day break you are basically unprotected for the 2nd week and the 1 week you are back on the pills. You also had unprotected sex during what was probably a fertile time for you.
Most women ovulate about 2 weeks after the START of their period, not the end, so that put you unprotected during your most fertile time of month. The ONLY ONLY time you take the Pill in relation to your period is when you first start. After that, you just keep taking them as they come in the pack and start a new pack when it is due NO MATTER what your body is doing. If you had sex any time during the second break week or the first week back on the pill then there is a possibility of pregnancy but DONT stop taking your pills. If you are pregnant, they wont hurt the fetus and chances are greater that you are not pregnant. From now on NEVER alter the way you take the Pill no matter what unless, of course, you find out that you are indeed pregnant. It is not unusual to have weird bleeding when you first start the Pill. Most likely, if you had started the next pack when you were supposed to have, it would have stopped your bleeding. You might bleed or spot mid month, you may not have your period when it is due if you have bleeding or spotting mid month but you just keep taking the Pills. that is the only way to get your body straightened out. You body takes time to get used to the new hormones but within a few months everything should regulate out but there may be times when you are still bleeding when it comes time to start a new pack. Again DO NOT ALTER YOUR SCHEDULE ONCE YOU START THE PILL-KEEP TAKING NO MATTER WHAT YOUR BODY IS DOING!
