I have been getting the max dose of Xolair for 13 months, 375 mg every 2 weeks. This has been a miracle for me, I feel like I'm back to my old self. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week, swim, go on hikes, just about all the things I could not do before Xolair. I still take one maintenance inhaler daily even though most of the time I feel like I could skip it. My pulmonologist insists that I stay on it. I have not had any side effects. I was very fearful when I first started it, but so far, so good. It took about 6 months for it to take full effect, I remember being worried at about 4 months that it wouldn't work, but he kept reassuring me that it would, and it did!
Xolair has been a pure miracle for me. I was slave to my asthma for over 25 years. Prednisone, theotholine , advair, you name it I was on it. Prednisone caused me to gain over 100 lbs, became diabetic. Asthma controlled my life. Couldn't plan anything ahead of time, trips, no, concerts, no. Xolair gave a normal life. It took a few months for me to feel safe to give up my singulair. I was on Xolair since 2004 and lived a normal, asthma free life. Now my insurance just stopped it and I am freaking out terrified of what will happen without it.
