I'd been on Xarelto for approx. 2 years then it stopped working! Right now I'm on Warfarin and it still hasn't stabilized my blood. Has anyone else had this problem??
I have never heard it stop working - again how did they determine that since there are no monitering blood tests.
With Warfarin - steady diet, if you like greens eat "same" amount don't binge or stop and should be able to regulate Warfarin - alcohol and herbals can really throw off your levels. I have been on Warfarin since 2009 - for mechanical heart valve - so after 3 months I went to home testing my INR and do so weekly now. I stopped alcohol because very unpredictable especially since not daily drinker.
We think xarelto has quit working for me. I am still on it but at five months something didn't feel right. Had another scan on my leg and I have another smaller blood clot. The original blood clot is gone.
At this point I might need to go on warfarin. I'm still waiting on a hematologist to contact me with an appointment date. My PCP referred me and I haven't heard anything since August.
I was on Xarlto for about a month. At the month mark I started to notice increase calf pain and swelling. Immediately went to the doctor and a duplex scan was completed. The clot was larger. I was the 2nd person they saw that day that Xarlto did not work on. I have heard similiar stories over the last year. They immediately discontinued Xarlto and Lovenox bridged me into Coumadin. Been on Coumadin for a year and I am doing great!
