what is it exactly used to treat ?
Hello Jaime&It:3. Xanax (Alprazolam)comes from the Benzodiazepine family of drugs. It is used for Panic disorders and in the treatment of GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It is effective for high stress moments as well as panic attacks. works very quickly, but is short acting and leaves your body quickly. The drug is used several times per day. Depending on the condtion/reason it is being taken for. The beginners dose is 0.5mg spread about three or four times within a 24 hour period. Down side to the drug, is its addictive nature. Longer a person is using Xanax, when the time comes for the need to stop taking it, the more difficult it is to do so. Regards, pledge
I have taken Xanax in the past when I was
switching meds and had a lot of anxiety. One
time I was on it for several months due to a
slow response to a new med but I had no
trouble coming off of it when the new med
kicked in. Of course I was under a doctor's
supervision the whole time. You do need to
be careful with benzos but Xanax helped
me tremendously when I needed it.
