Xanax to Klonopin?

I was rx'd 1.5 mg xanax for many years. I started taking too much (3mg per day) in the last month and decided to get psychiatric help. He upped my dose of Lexapro up to 30mg. He also told me to d/c xanax and start taking .5 mg klonopin 3 times daily to equal 1.5mg total. He also gave me permission to take an extra .5 to get myself used to the medication and I guess to help with withdrawal from xanax.
Does this sound like a decent plan? My anxiety has been okay since I started this regiment yesterday, but I took a rescue dose of .25 mg xanax yesterday and two times today.
I'd love some feedback on opinions. I feel this is too large a cut, but I seem to be coping okay.
Thank you all!

Really??? No, it does not sound like a decent plan they way it is described.
This sounds like it's time to find a new, real Dr, a real recovery program and some real solutions. My goodness. Please get a fresh start with a professional who understands enough to know what to do, because (again, based on what you report) this one ain't the one.
