I am noticing more often I feel more depressed after a couple days where I have used a bit more Valium than I usually do use. Someone on the board here, a while back, said Xanax and Ativan do not have the depressive side effects of Valium. Has any one else had an experience they'd share with me-who does know it worked for them? I don't know how I would approach my doctor, though. He wants me off Valium, as does my Sub doctor. I guess I want off it, too. Just not as fast as they want me off it. So, I don't know how I'd go to my doctor and ask to change prescriptions when he wants me off benzos, period.
Don't do the Xanax! It is a highly abused drug. If you are already taking more Valium than you usually do, you will end up on the same cycle with the Xanax. It is difficult to come off of Xanax. You can seizure and/or die. I am not familiar with the other drug. Hope This helps. FYI. I am currently in the hospital being medically supervised coming off of Xanax.

Hi there Lady. Tad late, in an answer, Yours slipped through the mailbox. not going to explain in detail the pros and cons. Long tale short Valium is a long lasting benzodiazepine. Ativan and Xanax are both fast acting. You pop one, 4 hours later your body is asking for another. All three being Benzodiazepine and so are addictive. The longer you take, the more your body will ask and when its time to stop, the more difficult it wil be to do so. I'd taper of from the Valium, ever so slow and not bother with the Xanax or Ativan. I went through Detox. It was diificult, tomsay the least. Best taper. Oh spring is around the corner, so smile! Bye bye then, pledge

I took Ativan for year's . It was good but then it build's immunity and it doesn't work very well. Xanax gave me headaches and is very addictive. You will have to decide. I am suppose to be comming off ativan to valium but i am worried if it will work. Good luck..

This is for (Kwm462)... How many did ya take and for how long and did ya not wean down. I am weaning down In my own home relatively painless. It can be done just have to be patient. Valium is a longer acting drug then Xanax. Most likely easier to quit then Xanax.
