I would say that if it is prescribed as such by the same Dr. you should follow your Dr.´s instructions and take midazolam (versed) with xanax (alprazolam) as prescribed. Bare in mind that versed is a potent benzo used in less complicated surgical procedures for it´s hypnotic and sedative properties, and it will interact with xanax leaving you very sedated, and you will fall as sleep.
If not prescribed in such a way , do not mix them.
