I had partial hysterectomy still have ovaries 30 yrs ago way too much wt gain. any suggestions?
I was diagnosed with adult onset epilepsy and suffer grand mal seizures. When I was first diagnosed in 2009, I was ( and still am ) placed on a gamma of seizure medicine. My current doses are as follows: Depakote 2000 mg per day, Gabapentin 4200 mg per day, lyrica 600 mg per day and Klonopin 1.5 mg per day.
Most of these medicines will make anyone gain weight for the basic reason that they increase a persons appetite.
When I first started these medicines, my starting weight was 200 lbs. By 2013, my weight jumped to 272 lbs and what prompted me to lose the weight was beginning stages of diabetes. My doctor recommended that I go on the "South Beach Diet"
So, I got the book and the first thing that surprised me the most was that this is a diet for people like me ( I have many orthopedic challenges ) As I began this diet, I will admit that it was EXTREMELY difficult becuase I loved cabs and phase one of the diet has hardly no carbs. But I knew that if I wanted to lose this weight, I was going to start this diet out the right way, page by page and not cheat.. To my very large suprise, I DID IT :)
To this date, I am still not at my goal weight but my weight is now down to 230 lbs.
Here is my opinion on diets. Diets are only as good as what you put into them.
I hope this answered your question and I wish you the very best of luck. God Bless :)
