What works better for pain, sleep, and muscle spasms, soma or tizanidine?

I have been on Soma and Flexeril in the past and now currently taking Tizanidine.
Tizanidine works well for me; it helps ease my pain gently and does a great job relaxing my muscle spasms. It is quite sedating, unfortunately, but I usually take it in the evening unless my spasms are in a flare , etc. For me the sleepiness isn't severe anymore if I just take a 2mg capsule during a hard pain day -- I know I can still drive safely and go about my usual activities at that dose now. It took a bit of time to build up to that but otherwise I usually take 4 mgs. at night and I will fall asleep nicely! It it short acting ? I believe--I do not struggle with a 'hungover' feeling in the morning which is another definite plus in my book! :)
Soma-Soma 350 mg. worked well for me too with a much less sedating feeling; however, I was very surprised to find the Tizanidine seems to almost target my spasms-I can feel it working whereas taking Soma I did not feel that sensation, just a vague sort of pain relief from the spasms. I was switched to Tizanidine as my Physiatrist (like so many others now, eh?)?no longer wants to write Rx's for Soma.
Flexeril was like taking a sedative with no pain relief benefit for me. It has never worked and makes me feel rotten and exhausted!
Best to you!!
