I worked in the Health Care system for years and washed my hands so often that?

in the winter time even when I put hand cream after I wash my hands I get cracks on my thumbs and fingers and of course it hurts. Any Idea what I can moisturise with that stays on the hands because I still wash my hands often anyhow.
They make here in the US a cream called udder cream which works wonders. Probably can find online. Also, try moisturizing lavishly at night and wearing gloves to hold the moisture in. Corn huskers lotion works well too.
Having had the same experience and after scrubbing in the or, I learned warm vaseline on your hands and arms at night, with kneesocks over them, works wonders. And neosporin on the cracks during the day helps enormously.
Hey smiley girl, long time no see! Sorry about your poor hands, that hurts like mad, I know. You could, along with the other ideas, buy something called Bag Balm, work it into the skin of your cracked thumb and other finger tips before you put mittens or socks on your hands at night, it will really help. (can't you use sterile gloves instead of washing constantly or do you have to do both?)
Best wishes and I hope this goes away very soon,
Hi Darling! Delighted to second our friend Mac on this one. Nothing beats Bag Balm. It's actually sold in livestock feed stores, serious stuff used by ranchers to heal cracks on cow's udders. It can now be found in many other stores, in a green and red square can. Just slather it on, gloves will help, and you'll see a miracle. Great for heel cracks, too! Accept no imposters-this is the one!
Happy holidays with love to all my friends,
Bag balm is really good. Take it from someone who used to wear band aids on every finger throughout the winter. It got so bad after I had my son. 12 diaper changes and 8 bottles a day and bladder issue so I went 12 times a day equals 32 hand washes per day!
Hi I use vaseline at night with socks on hands and that works wonders.
I agree with kaismama... I swear by vaseline... a month ago I had a biopsy, and thought they would write me some type of cream for they shaved the growth off etc... my dermatologist told me just to apply vaseline daily and it healed pretty quickly... also if you have say dry facial skin... I use to do this on my own just to test it... I would apply vaseline to the palm of my hand not a real lot, and rub all over face, and then get a wasecloth and make it hot not real hot, and place this over my face... not trying to be funny, but I will be 52 in Jan... and I have great facial skin etc... never had acne, and I believe it was do to this... I swear by vaseline... try it u will be surprised how well they cheap little product works... let me no how u make out...
Hi Lucy! I have the same problem. For me, it's kind of an obsessive thing. I've found "Curel Intensive Healing" works excellent. When I get cracked fingers, I have to use Neosporin, as others have said, and I continue to use it a few times. Also, I use liquid band aid. It gives the cracks a chance to heal.
It's a b--- h isn't it?
May you have Faith, Hope and Love,
I get that too. Especially with the mechanics hands. I use a bandaid or white gloves at night to hold in moisture.mi use a salve, not hand cream over the area. As I am prone to infections, I find bacitracin works for me. A covered sore heals much faster and often by the second day these crackers heal. However, there are conditions that are allergies that do the same. Have you checked this out? The white gloves from the pharmacy really do help.cotton.
I can't find bag balm. Any suggestions?
