I am seeing my psychiatrist tomorrow. Which of these would work best for bipolar? I have researched Zyprexa intramuscular, Symbyax, Pristiq and Saphris.
Have you consider the anticonvulsants like Depakote, or Lamictal or the mood stabilizer lithium? The problem with antidepressants in Bipolar is that they can cause manic episodes.
Best wishes and good luck to you. Glad you're seeing a doctor instead of trying to tough it out on your own. Wildcat
I have been on many medicines Seroquel, lamictal, Lithium, Abilify, Geodon, depokote, Invega some of the newest medicines out and either the side effects got me or I went a bit manic so I am on Rexulti so far so good. Medicines are so individual you just have to find what works for you. Good luck.
My doctor told me on Wednesday that pristiq, being the one I was most interested in, was not a bipolar medication. He kept me on 900mg of lithium, bumped my Latuda up to 80 mg and has me taking 1mg of Klonopin with the others. All of which I take between 7pm and 9pm. Depends on what time I go to work. So far so good except I think my Klonopin in making me tired. I took it at 7:30pm and by 9pm I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. But then I woke up at 12am and I am not tired yet.
My son took klonopin for schizophrenia when needed but even he realized it was habit forming and had a terrible episode where he mixed it with alcohol and really lost control. He decided to avoid benzos altogether. I am a firm believer in taking as little meds as possible to control symptoms
I have been on most of what you all have mentioned including Depakote and Invega shots. I am now taking Vraylar. Very little dude effects except tremors. My Dr. says that’s a small amount to pay if the bigger amount pays off. I don’t know if that’s so. I don’t Like the tremors and also had it with Depakote.
