I've been diagnosed with bi polar and depression for over 10 years, I've taken many different anti depressants and mood stabilizers and nothing has worked. I'm scared to take lithium because of the side effects, and how much fluids you have to drink. Because I really don't drink a lot of fluids throughout the day because it upsets my stomach. Am I just worrying myself for no reason? Will this medicine actually help me?
Hi Heather, Lithium is nothing to be afraid of. Fluids? I just drank the normal amount to stop from being thirsty, I made no changes to my diet. Side effects? I just got a fine hand tremor at 1200mg per day, otherwise there were none. Give it a go please as when it works, it really works.
Hi, Heather! I agree with my friend, Stephen! I've been taking lithium for over four years with no side effects and it has completely changed my life for the better.
You will need to have a blood test test done every three to six months to determine if the drug is in therapeutic range, but other than that it's no big deal.
Stop worrying and just follow your doctor's instructions.
I wish you the best and good luck! Wildcat
