Warfrain is important in preventing the formation of blood clots. It is prevents extension of clots already formed, and to minimize the risk of blood clot embolization to other vital organs - lungs and brain.

You really need to have a discussion with a hematologist. Warfarin or any other anticoagulant drug may prevent PEs or DVTs. They will not necessarily stop you from getting clots. You may also want to discuss with your new hematologist the placement of a IVC filter to help reduce your risk of getting another PE. Good luck.
