i do 40 mg a day of methadone, what day should i start suboxin, and how long does it take 2 switch from one 2 the other?ive tried suboxin twice half a pill each time and it didnt do anything 4 me.although i wasnt sick i just didnt have any dones that day.will suboxin make me NOT want dones??? thats another real worry of mine!!!
I think suboxone will keep you far more alert then methadone. By your statement above it seems you probably recieved your subs from someone other than a doctor, the subs you took could have been 2mgs or 8mgs, in half of course as you stated. Subs are not really ever going to do anything for you as far as getting "high", thats the beautiful thing for people trying to get clean enough to straighten out their lives, it is the bad thing for people who just want to, not get sick but, continue to get "high". Everyone makes their own choice of when they are completely done with opiates (No judgement from me) just thought I would give you some info. As always if you need something answered and you can't find your way come here and request robert 325 or Musicman. Good Luck!!! Fight the good Fight!!!
How are yo doing, did you make the switch to subs. They will dry you out and give you a more alert state than dones. It can take a few days to start working a 100% I hope you give them a chance. They are an opiate, but they are better than taking 40mgs of methadone a day. Once you are stable on subs you will not want the dones as much, but getting your head clear and beating the addiction part is what the subs are good for. They allow you to try life not high and do it without withdrawal. Because going through w/d's it is to hard unless you are absolutly ready. The subs are also easier to wean off of, but the jump is still hard. Good Luck!!!
I hate to have to tell you this, but cold turkey at 40mgs a day of methadone will take 2-3 weeks to feel good, maybe more dependant on how long you have been on the methadone. If you can do it more power to you, I think that would be awesome. I took methadone to quit a vic, perc, oxy addiction and found it to still cloud my mind and I was always trying to take more to get high. Once I switched to suboxone I leveled out after about a week and I never really went through w/d. However there is a period of wierdness (for lack of a better word) during that first week. I couldn't get high from the subs so I stopped trying. My head cleared and I started to get used to living without being high. This too is a transition and can seem sort of wierd, but you will become proud of your self for being clean (When I say clean I mean, not high) subs are an opiate, but they allow you the chance to live without being high and not have to go through w/d's.
Lets face it if you w/d and your head is not clear, and you are used to being high all the time you will probably use again. (This is about me, I am not saying you will) This is the process of an addicted mind. Subs let me clear up my mind and I used them for 5 years. I am finally off now, but I had to quit when I was totally ready, and yes I went through some major w/d's. It was still hard even after not getting high for 5 years. I know now were my pit falls are and I stay away from them, this is due to the subs allowing me to live clean. (I mean not high) They were a very important reason for why I am still alive. Good Luck!!!
