I tapered off methadone one millegram a day, and when I was at 2 mg I used heroin, is this gonna give me full blown withdrawels like from quitting cold turkey off heroin or will it make any difference with my methadone withdrawel? of course it matters to my well being and sobriety.
Will one use of heroin effect withdrawell off methadone?

I was on methadone for six months, I take my last dose of methadone today. I tapered off of 90mg by decreasing 2mg for thirty days and 1 mg a day for the last 30 days, I just didn't know if using heroin would cause me to have withdrawel from heroin or just supside the methadone withdrawel.

I am not saying I want to try to deal with my methadone withdrawels by using heroin, I just relapsed and am scared of having withdrawels like I did with heroin.
I don't think it makes alot of difference to the taper plan, may prolong it a bit, but it definitely matters to the well being and sobriety as you said. You are a strong person or you wouldn't have posted here. Stick to your taper plan and keep up the good work.
We are here to support your every effort,
Basically you are just delaying the methadone withdrawal or covering it, with a short acting opiate. Methdadone is a long acting opiate and once you are on a long acting opiate, the brain really won't be satisfied for long with a short acting one. You don't have a whole lot of info in your post about how long you were on methadone, but, as you may know, that is a pretty hard thing to come off of. Walking for exercise helped me get off subs, and a low dose antidepressant. Some get clonidine and methacarbomal for symptoms coming off opiates or subs, it may also help with methadone and heroin. If you could manage to decrease the dose of heroin, it might work, but usually, after a long acting opiate, people can't really control the use of the short acting ones and tend to relapse because the brain screams for more and at shorter and shorter increments.
Honestly heroine withdrawals are easier to deal with than methadone. So not saying its good, but you could use heroine to keep the done withdrawals at bay, but honestly i have talked to many people who quit cold turkey anywhere from 5 to 60mg everyday and had no withdrawal. So I honestly believe you can just quit the dones completely and you will be fine. I found a lot of my so called sickness was in my head because i miss took feeling normal for feeling high. Two milligrams isn't even affecting your body at all so not having it will make no difference. man up peace
Well dude your question is backwards you take methadone to get off heroin not heroin to help with methadone, can you take the 2mg for several days not just one day then nothing and then go to every other day then every thired day. do this for a couple three weeks that should help with easing the withdrawls
