If I start taking Effexor XR 37.5 MG in the morning and have a couple of drinks in the evening, is this going to make me sick? I have never taken Effexor before. Have just been given a new precription for this drug for depression. My husband and I love to enjoy our evening drinks before/with our evening meal. Is this going to be a problem?
Please be very careful taking this drug! I took this for a long time. It was effective for depression, but when I tried to get off of it--- it was terrible!!! I felt like I was going crazy! It was a nightmare. It took like a month to get out of my system. I remember I was moving into a new home at the time, and my mother and sister told me that I acted like a crazy woman. I have no recollection of this however! Just be very careful! Have you tried Lexapro? this may be way more effective and disrupt your life less!
That is a pretty scary combo. Please take the time to talk to your Dr or at least the pharmacist. I don't know of any phsycotropic that blends well with alcohol. Be careful, effexor alone has some nasty side effects expecially when trying to wean off it. You are the most important person in your life so try your best to take care of You. Ask a professional about the combo as well as the amount of alcohol. Best of luck.
just for the sakeof this warning. Please check with your Doctor before even having a light drink.
Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Effexor without checking with your doctor; it may add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness.
Teetotaler checking in/ First of all you should really never use alcohol when taking medications, since most can and do cause drowsiness, dizziness, etc. Since we're all human and have our habits, having a drink or two may not bother some people. Effexor XR was a med I tried a long time ago, and I ended up getting medicinal diabetes from it and had to stop. That being said, always check with your doctor on these issues. You can never be "too" careful~
Since this medicine is so new to you, I would suggest an cold glass of Ice-tea in place of your usual with hubby for now. At least until you get adjusted to the medication and check with your Doctor. I wish you luck.
