We were told by our cardiologist's assistant that they were the same thing, same drug. My husband, who is not a physician, says they are not the same, and the secondary effects of taking Sotalol instead, could potentially be life-threatening because I have afib ( in the atrium) and not ventricular fibrillation . Wd very much appreciate your opinion on the issue. By the way, she just finished obtaining her Sotalol AF refill correctly after having to talk to about 5 different people !!
Extremely frustrated and worried for future refills. Thank you very much for your help. rom/ile

Sotalol and Sotalol AF is the same medication. The only difference is the patient insert advice. There are various sources that will tell you not to take one or the other, it is only for legal liability issues from the manufacturer. One is the same as the other.
