Why would a doctor prescribe clindamycin if you were having an allergic reaction to a bee sting?

Clinamycin has anti-inflammatory properies, and with an allergic reaction to a bee sting a number of area's in the body become inflamed. Also, clindamycin is sometimes used for topical staph or strep infections, and because this was a bug bite (I don't know under what circumstances... in the woods, camping etc), he may have wanted to use it prophylactically.
