is there less pain relieff in new op
This question has also been asked and answered here: What's the difference between Oxycontin OC 40 and OP 40?
I know some posted that they are sick of this question. I feel this is a very important issue right now that is making people who take it responsibly sick. I pay full price so don't think I'm concerned with the "street value" of this as at full price, I can't imagine it being more expensive paying $570 a month for a 30 day supply when I fall into the donut or gap of Medicare Part D every May through December. I do not qualify for low income assistance due to my income separate from SSDI; annuities.
I honestly feel it does give to me the same pain relief as now I'm on day 17 of the new formulation. The only reason why I'm in more pain is due to my stomach problems that have caused me to not be able to take my breakthrough pain meds as I should/need to.
I called my pharmacist who also said he has had many calls of similar complaints of vomiting, fever, flu like symptoms with stomach cramps.
I just realized something that I hope helps me and others on here who also have this as a pain medication: I think we could be possibly going through withdrawal from the old compounds in it as it has been changed so it can not be cut open and abused that way thank God. I petitioned for that to happen at least 4yrs ago.
If most of us are only withdrawing from the old compounds in it, most of us should feel better soon. I don't feel as sick as I was. It's been 17 days since I started taking this formula and 9 days since I first got sick.
I'm still having some low grade fever, dizziness, and stomach problems but only vomited one day. If I could take my meds as prescribed, I honestly feel it has the same pain relief as the old ones as that is not my issue at all.
I think we need to give it a chance before saying it doesn't work anymore or is making many of us sick. I also called my doctor who told me to keep trying it until I see her in the next 11 days or so.
The only thing she advised was for me to take Phenergen for it due to my stomach problems. The old formulation never made me sick and I haven't felt any euphoria in 8yrs on the same dose.
I hope others read this and find some comfort thinking we just need to get used to it before blowing it out of proportion. None of us will know unless we try and for me I have to. I'm allergic to EVERY long acting opiate that was ever prescribed to me and have never in any way abused my medications.
I have a feeling that if others on here had been on a medication that worked so well for many years or a long time that they too would be on here asking questions and complaining.
I also understand that some abusers are going to pipe off too but this is a serious issue and all the ones who are only trying to understand what is happening to them due to the bad side effects are only trying to see if others are experiencing similar effects by asking others that are on the same medication.
Please be understanding and compassionate as I would for any of you who also had a similar problem.
