Why does my doctor want me to take brand name oxycodone instead of generic?

Hi curios george. I really don't know much about the drug, oxycodone other than what I read. My best guess, and thats all it is, might be one of two reasons. Your doctor feels that the brand name is a more effective drug, in its chemical makeup, than the generic. The other, might be your doctor is pushing the brand on behalf of the company that manufactures the drug. Best of wishes to you, pledge

I agree with Pledge in that your doctor may be getting some type of kickback from the drug manufacturer. As Pledge also said, the only other reason the doctor would instruct you to ask for the name brand is that he believes the generic are not as good.
Good luck with this!
