What if the yeast is not cleared up after 2 weeks?
If the yeast is not cleared up in 2 weeks, there may be an underlying condition causing it not to clear up or stay yeast free. Diabetes and HIV can both be precursor to bad yeast infections. If we are talking about an actual vaginal yeast infection, you may have bacterial vaginosis, which has many of the exact same symptoms. BV is an overgrowth of at least one of 7 vaginal bacteria. There is a really good article online about it from Dr. James Christian at vaginosis.com. He explains it really well. If you have BV, and get diagnosed by a doctor, you may be prescribed something called Metro-gel. If you use it 7 days as they usually suggest, it may end up causing a yeast also. See if the will prescribe some Diflucan to be taken by mouth midway thru treament and a day or 2 after the metro gel.
