Michael recently needed to go to Mass General Hospital Emergency and receive 5 pints of blood due to this problem. The doctors told him, he needed surgery soon and would not survive another bought like this one. Mass General then released him because he did not have insurance. The doctors told him that the prednisone he (needs to breathe) has caused this. He needs help! Anyone know how or where he could go to get help for this surgery? Mass General Hospital doctors have told him this is an urgent matter. He has 2 children that he cares for and is struggling. Having a pre-existing disease is making it impossible to get insurance. Are there any foundations,,, to cantact for help with funding for this surgery that is needed due to side effects of this drug? We really appreciate any feedback that would help. We are in a TIME SENSITIVE situation giving the doctors have a grim outlook.
My daughter was on Predisone for 15 years for asthma. She had an esophageal tear in April. Surgery was not recommended. She had emergent surgery a year before for a gastric perforation (tear). She died in May of an abrupt gastric bleed. She hemmoraghed in her home within minutes and died. She was 35.
Please get help now. Do not delay. Be persistent. She had been to the ED 4 times that week with severe abdominal pain (primary symptom of a perforation). She was given pain medicine, accused of drug seeking and sent home each time.
I hate Prednisone and how it robbed my daughter of a normal life.
Would any hospital in your area agree to doing his surgery as a charity case? I would pursue that. Or is he eligible for state Medicaid? Is he disabled from the Prednisone? My daughter was disabled a few years ago and was able to get Medicare.
Hope this helps. You are in my prayers.
