Paxil CR and Premature Ejaculation

Paxil CR (paroxetine controlled release) is a prescription medication that is licensed to treat the following conditions:

* Depression (also known as major depression or clinical depression)
* Panic disorder
* Social anxiety disorder
* Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Paxil CR is also sometimes used to treat premature ejaculation, though it is not approved for this use. This is known as an "off-label" use.

How Does Paxil CR Work for Premature Ejaculation?

It is not entirely clear how Paxil CR works for premature ejaculation.
As with other similar antidepressants, Paxil CR is known to cause sexual side effects, including delayed ejaculation. While these sexual side effects are usually undesired, in the case of men with premature ejaculation, the Paxil CR sexual side effects can be beneficial by helping to delay ejaculation.

There are numerous conditions that can be treated off-label with Paxil CR, and premature ejaculation is one of them. Using a prescription drug off-label means using it to treat a disease or condition for which the drug has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) free discount card
