When taking a drug test, if a drug is found can they tell if it is prescribed or not?

When you go in for the test, they will ask you what medications (prescribed or OTC) you have taken within the past 30 days. If you don't bring the prescription bottle in with you, they'll ask the name of the doctor who prescribed the meds. Depending on the reason for the test, if it shows positive for anything, the doctor who reads the results will call you if anything came up positive and ask you if there is a medical reason why this would show positive.
