I am on 16 mgs of suboxone. Take 8 in the morn. And 8 in the afternoon. The klonipin is .50 mgs twice a day, which I usually take both at night before I go to bed to help me sleep. Before the suboxone, i was used to taking 60 mgs of methadone and 2 mgs of xanax. Not sleeping as well as when i first started the klonipin. Is it advisable to raise my klonipin to 2mgs at bed time? If my dr will allow, that is. Or is that too high with the suboxone?
i would definatley contact ur doctor,as taking to much can cause u to quit breathing:(my suboxone doctor put me on visteral 25mgs wich is doing pretty well.i know what u mean about the methadone and xanax been there nice deep sleep,i havent slept that deep since, probably a good thing since i have 3 kids who need me to wake up,good luck to you,and please contact ur doctor and ask about the visteral..
I currently take 35mg of methadone, a muscle relaxer, and a few other depressant type drugs. I take all of these along with 2mg of Klonopin. The general conversion, although it varies from source to source is that Klonopin to Xanax is equal. If I had to make a bet, you should be fine, but nonetheless you really need to consult your doctor, and make sure that the doc is aware of everything that you're taking... including the OTC stuff. I don't know how big you are, your blood pressure and pulse, hight, as well as the details of the medical history. It is for these reasons that only your doctor can tell you if it's a safe thing to do or not.
Good luck, and hope that this is of some help to you!
Linda, The insomnia may be from one of 2 things suboxone related, you may not need that much suboxone anymore or you may be taking it too late in the afternoon. That would be a suggestion from a former subs patient, me. I know the standard dose of suboxone is 16 mgs daily, but it does help heal the brain and most people can move down from 16 mgs pretty quickly, all side effects and negative symptoms will likely be reduced. You also might simply try taking it earlier in the afternoon, or taking less with that dose. Suboxone actually stays on the opiate receptors in the brain for 3 to 5 days aftera person has been on if for a while. You could theoretically skip a day here and there and not even notice it. Your doctor is unusual, most will NOT approve benzo usage for subs patients. YOu should always talk to your doctor when you have a subs issue, however, I found that since my doctor was not really on suboxone, he didn't know the answer to all the questions I had.
I came here and a guy named Robert_325 informed me well on most of my questions, one of them was "am I on too much suboxone?" and I was, it had healed my brain somewhat and I didn't need as much. I successfully tapered completely off of it about 6 months ago, with Robert and my counselor's help, withdrawal free. As I came down, the symptoms subsided. I hope this helps. Pattishan ps, don't take the second dose after 2:30 or 3 pm. that might help also
I agree with the previous poster - klonopin is NOT recommended with suboxone. The combination can be very dangerous. The dosage of suboxone you are on is very high, and usually not necessary. I work in a long-term treatment center, and RARELY do we have a client take more than 8 mg a day. We do not have clients use suboxone and benzodiazepenes (like klonopin), as the risk is too high.
MOST doctors are not well-versed on suboxone, and I'm constantly amazed by what I hear (from clients) that doctors have sometimes recommended. If you want to hear the real info on suboxone, please reach out to Robert_325 in this forum, as he truly is the most knowledgeable one around here.
Robert actively posts on the "Need to Talk" forum, which you can find through this link: https://www.drugs.com/forum/need-talk/ Try posting a thread there, mentioning his name in the subject, and I'm sure you'll hear a response before long. He does spread himself thin helping others, so please be patient!
