Hi Crispen, you are right about both being addicting. But they really aren't meant for chronic long term use. If the condition is chronic and ongoing, and you have been on an opiate therapy already, good pain management doctors will prescribe a sustained release med such as ms contin, pain patch, oxycontin, etc. If the sustained release med is good enough, you should rarely need a bt med like oxycodone. After long term use, they do more harm than good. The main thing is to stick with one doctor, always be honest, and stick to the schedule. Even if you take a few extras, tell the doctor on your next visit. Honesty with your doctor is the best way to get the help someone needs for pain.
