Whats the differance between subutex vs. suboxone medically?

Hey kelly,

Suboxone and Subutex both contain the opiate buprenorphine which is for opiate detox. The Suboxone also contains Naloxone which is added to the formula to keep addicts from injecting the Suboxone as the Naloxone would send them into immediate withdrawal. The Naloxone in the Suboxone taken orally (sublingually) doesn't enter the blood stream appreciably.

Hope this helps,

Laurie

My dr told me they are the same drug, subutex is a generic. But i would call a pharmacy, they will answer your question without asking who you are, they know more about medication makeup than drs. i take subutex, so i made sure to ask. definantly be safe and do your research CVS is really good to call
