Nucynta (tapentadol) is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine. Nucynta is used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Opana (oxymorphone) is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine.

Opana is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The extended-release form of this medication is for around-the-clock treatment of pain.

Opana is not for treating pain just after surgery unless you were already taking Opana before the surgery.

I have taken Opana I will just elaborate a bit on it marvell is right its an oxymorphone drug in higher doses it can be more pat to cause respiratory depression or I will say it did with me, it is a long acting medicating, Nucynta is also (I think) a strong pain pill it is also long acting, it is just the matter that what works for one person does not always do the job for another person. I hope I have been of help in some small way. I think the Nucynta is a morphine type drug just not sure exactly the formulation.
