Im 13 weeks pregnant an i was just waondering what the class was if it was a b or c? My name is Shannon thanks.
Hi Shannon. Desloratadine (Claritin) has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA.
Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Desloratadine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweigh the risks.
You should talk to your doctor before taking Claritin.
Claritin is classified as pregnancy category B. It should be used during pregnancy only when the benefits of therapy outweigh the risks. Self-medication with loratadine (OTC formulations) during pregnancy is not recommended. Pregnant patients should see their health care professional for a proper diagnosis and for treatment recommendations.
