My grandmother has been prescribed this two medication, I was just wondering what are the difference between two medication? All i am aware of it that they both are blood pressure medicine.
They are different class of medicines so work differently to regulate the blood pressure, therefore can be used together.
Amlodipine is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It relaxes (widens) blood vessels and improves blood flow.
Amlodipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or chest pain (angina) and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.
Propranolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation.
Propranolol is used to treat tremors, angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm disorders, and other heart or circulatory conditions.
