when taken together whaT are the side effects of vyvanse and amphetamine salts? normally not taken together.
Vyvane is what is known as a "prodrug" for Amphetamine. What that means is that your body converts Vyvanse (Lisdexamphetamine) into amphetamine.
However, just like your body can only metabolize alcohol at a certain rate, it can only turn Vyvanse into amphetamine at a certain rate. This makes Vyvanse a "Time Released" form of amphetamine and gives it the benefit of being harder to abuse.
Taking Vyvanse and Amphetamine together will result in a larger net amount of Amphetamine in your body. Vyvanse is, for all intents and purposes, the same medication, Amphetamine. Taking too much amphetamine can cause insomnia, restlessness, lack of appetite, euphoria, and a whole bunch of other great side effects.
Personally I would ask my doctor for generic time release amphetamine. Vyvanse is a new medication and as such is still under patent and much more expensive. If you have insurance it doesn't really matter, but if not the price difference will large.
