was curious what year neurontin was put on the market? a women I work with says she's been taking it since 1984 i didn't think it was on the market that long ago & she tends to tell alot of lies, she also says it gives her brain damage??
Your question has been bothering me to research Neurontin (Gabapentin) since the time I read it, I do a lot of research on meds & patents etc.
"May 28, 2002 -- Pfizer Inc said today that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market Neurontin (gabapentin) for the management of post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN)."
Discovered and developed by Warner-Lambert, which merged with Pfizer in 2000.
Neurontin was first approved by the FDA in 1993 as an add-on treatment for partial epileptic seizures.
Now, since Teva also has received to manufacture the generic version in 2004, which means that the patent would have expired since the patent is granted for 20 years, meaning which Neurontin would have been discovered or patented around 1984, it would perhaps take a company to put into market 9 -10 years.
I really don't swear by the info, but the above info has been found on patent sites on Gabapentin, if you do get hold of authentic information it shall be a pleasure to hear from you.
Thanks & Regards.
