What would cause an Oxycontin to become so hard that you can't even split it with a pill spliter?

It may be the new pills that are supposedly crush proof. They were having trouble with people abusing them so they changed them so they can't be crushed and snorted. If you do manage to crush it, it will turn into a rubbery substance.

Correct. They purposely made them this way. They dont want people cutting or crushing them.

Its a new compound that is perhaps called a tamper proof binding agent which makes it almost impossible to split tabs, don't have the chemical name, perhaps shall research to find out.
