I have had two epidurals and the pain has not improved. I can not sit or stand for long periods due to the pain. I am taking percocets as needed but they are not good for the long haul.
You probably would do better with a long acting pain drug like OxyContin or MSContin, Fentanyl patches or something of that nature. these work best for long term chronic pain. Are you seeing a pain mangement specialist? If not I would recommend that you do. Also be sure you have consulted a neurologist for his/her opinion.
I have an aracnoid cyst , huge in the spinal canal in the same area. My Neurosurgeon won't touch it! Said I could end up paralyzed if they try to remove it because of previous back surgeries in the same area, & my bones are like swiss cheese & won't hold plates & screws. That's my story, but don't give up. Have you seen a Neurosurgeon? If you do be sure to take your MRI with you. ..
