My husband (addicted to opiates) has decided to go to a Suboxone clinic. Should I support him through this?
Yes, I would support your husband in his decision to get clean through the use of Suboxone.
You might also check out some videos on U tube. One is by maple2609 and there are several by the Suboxdoc. Be careful to not get discouraged by some of the videos and accounts of some peoples experience with Suboxone as they are usually the ones who didn't use it correctly and tried to come off it too soon or too quickly.
I wish you and your husband the very best and keep in touch,
Hi brokenheartx, I completely agree with all above comments! These members DO know what they are talking about! I am VERY well versed in Suboxone and take in myself! I have for almost 4 years now! It is a life saver for me. I live with chronic pain and am Sober too. You should absolutely support him throughout this. It isn't easy, but it is worth it in the end! He made the biggest step by asking for help. You need to help him continue this path to recovery. Reocvery is not easy. If it were, everyone would do it, and not be on here asking about it! I won't lie, there are tough times ahead. But all worth it in the end! A new person emerges. With meetings, regular doc visits, randon drug tests, trust building, 12 Step work, finding a Sponsor and a plethora of other needs will get him into this world again! And keep asking about his honesty to himeself! If he can't be honest with himself about this, he won't be honest with anyone. If an Addictionologist is willing to put him on Suboxone therapy, be it on the tabs or strips, then the road is being paved with the best medicine! Above all else, love is the other medicne that sees any other Addict through this time! Stay the coarse! It works if he works it... Feel free to contact me with any questions about the Suboxone. I am a CADC and this is my life... SuboxoneJay...
