I've started with 5/500 mg of Lortab in April 2005 (severe low back pain-sciatica) and have moved up the ladder from that to Lortab 7.5/750, 10-325 and now 10/500 mg! I ONLY take it for medical purpose ONLY and NEVER for pleasure-pain only, 3x a day. Is this considered stopping me abruptly (cold turkey) from Lortab to Darvocet? I see him every 6-8 wks and will do this on 4/16. He says he does it with all his patients- I wonder! He puts me right back on Lortabs after the 20 days. He makes me feel like an addict! How do I handle this and the upcoming withdrawal!!! Please help! ANY feedback greatly appreciated!
You must remember that hydrocodone quick acting painkillers were never intended to be used chronically. Believe me if you really needed a opiate pain killer for all this time then you certainly would have complained as this drug is quite weak in any mg dose. This is why your doctor is lowering you to propoxyphene which is even weaker than hydrocodone. He doesn't want you to become addicted and he knows that you don't really need these drugs. Don't get me wrong, I totally believe you suffer with pain but your doctor doesn't want to be involved with destroying your life. There are all kinds of other non-addictive drugs out there that will easily cover the pain that lortab, vicodin, hydros cover since they are all the same opiate, hydrocodone. So try this out and see how you are , you may be surprised and you will feel better in time because opiates after a while throw everyone in deep depression and this is usually when abuse starts. If you aren't abusing then you won't have any trouble at all... Hang in there... Dave
hi slygirl,to me it sounds like your doc does this "3 week cleanout" to weed out all his patients who he thinks could do without lortabs or whatever he has been writin for for the past year to see who changes doctors or maybe dont even cash that script. seemss to me you gotta decided what your gonna do.the meds he's givin you are not really all that good for long term or chronic pain. i think you know what your gonna do already. hang in there, im sure you will. let us know what you decided on 4/17 the day after. hang in there. maybe another doc? or someone will help you out? waiting to hear from you... pete
I can't really answer your question but I hae been on Darvocet and it did absolutley nothing for me. I haven't taken lortab but I heard it helps with the pain. I mean everyone reacts diferently to meds but darvocet completly sucked. I was taking Excedrin instead. Hope I could help a little!
