I recently started a Methadone Clinic to be treated for Opiate Abuse and I was honestly wondering or rather trying to compare the damages to the body from taking the Methadone. While methadone can adversely affect the heart, many opiates contain acetaminophen which can adversely affect the kidneys and liver if taken in high enough doses. It is recommended that you have an ECG while being treated with methadone to assess your heart rhythm. Otherwise, taken as directed, shouldn't be a problem.
