I accidentally mixed the contents of an old bottle of Oxycodone, that I found in my cupboard, with another bottle of pills only 4 months old. I want to know if I need to discard all the pills now, or if it's ok to take them even if some are several years old? Do they just lose their potency, or could they cause more serious problems?
I can tell you from personal experience, they may lose their potency but I have taken old oxycodone and it never caused me any problems. If you really are concerned ask your pharmacist though they may say anything older than a year should be discarded.
