They could be sugar spheres which are composed of starch derived from corn, sucrose, FD&C Blue #1 and D&C Yellow #10, or some kind of coloring used so that the pills become tamper proof or for identification.
Maybe a doc/pharmacist would be able to answer this accurately.

Is there really such thing as a 3.5 mg lortab? And how would you look that up on the pill identifie?
