Glibenclamide (Glyburide in the US) belongs to a class of drugs called Sulfonylureas. Sufonylureas help lower blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes by increasing the amount of insulin produced in the pancreas. Low blood sugar is the most common side effect.
