Exforge contains 2 therapeutic ingredients, amlodipine and valsartan. Amlodipine is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels.
Valsartan is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Valsartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
Elimination of amlodipine from the plasma is biphasic with a terminal elimination half-life of about 30-50 hours.
Valsartan shows bi-exponential decay kinetics following intravenous administration with an average elimination half-life of about 6 hours.
