Hi,, I AM NOT A DOCTOR.
It depends on many factors, not all organisms react the same way to meds, some individuals might have higher tolerance levels to the chemical compounds which the med is made of ,other individuasl... less tolerance levels. It also depends if the person has been on other meds before , the reason for this is his/ her organism has already experienced a different med and he/she might have had side effects or not from the med.It is all relative, age as well is another factor that must be consider.
I suggest the only perosn qualified to give the right dose is a Healthcare Provider, he/she are the only ones... ok

GENERIC NAME: tamsulosin
BRAND NAME: Flomax
DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Tamsulosin is a drug for the treatment of men who are having difficulty urinating because of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). In men, the tube which carries urine from the bladder to the penis (called the urethra) travels through the prostate gland. As men get older, the prostate gland enlarges, and the muscle cells within the prostate gland and the neck of the bladder (which control the flow of urine) tighten. The combination of enlargement and tightening of muscles compresses the urethra and obstructs the flow of urine. This results in difficulty urinating and retention of urine within the bladder. The tightening or contraction of the muscle cells is controlled by nerves. One type of nerve, the alpha adrenergic nerves, cause the muscle cells to tighten by releasing a chemical related to epinephrine (adrenalin). Tamsulosin blocks the effects of this chemical on the muscle cells and causes the muscles to relax. This results in a decrease in obstruction to the flow of urine.
Best of luck
The first dose when starting Flomax (tamsulosin hydrochloride) is 0.4 mg by mouth once daily. If no improvement is seen in the enlarged prostate symptoms after two to four weeks, the healthcare provider may suggest taking Flomax 0.8 mg (two 0.4 mg capsules) once daily. If at any time you stop taking Flomax, even for a few days, you will need to start back at the 0.4 mg dose for at least two weeks.
As with any medication, do not adjust your Flomax dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
General Flomax Dosage Information, some considerations for people taking Flomax include:
Flomax should be taken at the same time each day, a half an hour after a meal. Choose one meal to take Flomax after each day.
Flomax should be swallowed whole and should not be opened, crushed, or chewed.
For Flomax to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Flomax will not work if you take it differently than how your healthcare provider prescribed it.
If you are unsure about anything related to Flomax or your Flomax dosage, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Flomax without discussing it first with your healthcare provider.
Hope this helps?
