My Husband & I have been trying to have a child. We have been trying for about a year and nothing! Is there any kind of fertility drug that is cheap or can be prescribed. I am on S.S.I and do not have alot of money and I am on Medical assisitance. I want a baby so bad. I have a Daughter but she is not biologically his. He wants a baby of his own to call him Daddy & I love being a Mother. Any one know any way to help?
Has he had his sperm count checked? Since you are obviously capable of getting pregnant, it could point to an issue with him and low sperm count can be a possibility. Look at simple things first. Does he wear tight pants and/or tight underwear? If he wears tighter pants and the scrotum is too close to the body, it can generate too much heat and cause the sperm to be deficient. Have him try to spend most of the time he can in loose pants and wear either boxers or go commando. The scrotum needs to be cooler than the body for best sperm production. If he smokes marijuana at all, he should stop while you are trying to get pregnant. Smoking marijuana lowers the sperm count. I had a friend who was trying to get pregnant for over 10 years. When her husband finally stopped smoking marijuana, she got pregnant right away and he wasnt even a heavy user, but it was enough that it did lower his counts. Also you can be observant to the time when you are most fertile. You can do this by checking cervical mucus but to do this you must be comfortable with your self. You want to check your vaginal discharges each day with your fingers until they go from being a cloudy white color to a clear sticky fluid that looks like uncooked egg whites. When you detect the discharges that look like egg whites you are at your most fertile and are ovulating. These are the days you want to be sure to have sexual intercourse. Try some of these simple free measures to see if it helps. Relax too. Being under pressure to get pregnant can have the effect of preventing pregnancy sometimes. Trying for a year is really not that long even though it feels that way when you are trying so hard. It takes some couples a while to get pregnant. If these above measures do not work in six months (or before if you wish) talk to your PCP and perhaps get a referral to an OB-GYN and discuss your options. Many times it can be something that is very simple to resolve. Best of Luck to you!!!
