I am on Clonanzapam and it is not working at all.
Hello azpimyway76. In answer to your question, it actually varies from person to person. There are SSRI family of drugs. and there are the benzodiazepine family of drugs. SSRI are prescribed more often than not for a variety of diagnosis. Paxil, might be prescribed for a person suffering from both anxiety and depression. Benzodiazepine are prescribed soley for anxiety, panic attacks. They are a powerfull working drug and depending which one you might be taking say for example a xanax, immediate relief is felt very quickly. The down side to this family of drugs is that they can become and very quickly habit forming and difficult to stop, once you want to stop taking the drug alltogether. There are fast acting and there are slow acting benzodiazepines. Pros and cons to each. So choosing what works for you, depends how anxious a person is, the side effects, and how they will effect you,be it they short or long term. Notice I did not name one particular drug only because as I set from the beginning, we're all different, and only you know how bad your anxiety is. Best wishes,
