I am using the 25mcg/hr fentanyl patches and 10/325 mg percocet for breakthrough pain and I am having side effects from the fentanyl and was wondering what I could use to be as effective as the fentanyl but without the same side effects.
Hi mcclemens, there's several extended release pain medications on the market. Depending on the type of pain you have, your doctor may want to look in to MS Contin, OxyContin, Avinza, even methadone. It really depends on your system and what meds you may be able to tolerate. You could try googling "pain medication" and it will give suggestions of the different meds available. Good luck and hope you find a better med soon.
that is a typical problem that I have, it isn't that the doctor won't prescribe the medicine and Fentanyl patches was one I took for a while but the side effects were just too much, MS contin and Avanzia along with Opana are also longer acting medications Dilaudid is stronger but it is a shor acting and is taken every 3 hours typically for Chronic pain lasting through the day doctor's agree it's better to take a medicine that works so you are constantly taking multiple doses of medicines I wish you the very best of luck, please let us know how you are doing my first name is Billy and my name here is
