To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of cefazolin for injection and other antibacterial drugs, CEFAZOLIN FOR INJECTION should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria.

Cefazolin is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics.
Cefazolin is a first generation cephalosporin. It is an effective alternative for treating staphylococcal and streptococcal infections and therefore are alternatives for skin and soft-tissue infections, as well as for streptococcal pharyngitis.
To reduce resistance Cefazolin should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.
