... facing spinal fusion down the road. They let my disc herniate for 4 months before they did the MRI. I am in pain everyday and I just don't know what to do anymore
If you mean medications- I am actually a brand new fan of the fentanyl patch- it has given me the most even, thorough pain relief I have had in 8 years. You do not mention what you have tried.
My other suggestion to anyone dealing with back pain is to get in the water. I wish they had told me about water aerobics when I had my back surgery- having discovered it a year ago I feel like it has saved my life. In the water I can do so many things that pain prevents me from doing on land. I am finally feeling my life force again. We even do crunches. I take five classes a week at the Y.
Find yourself a good pain management specialist. They can usually give you several options from meds to possibly injections to block pain for example. I can't really say what options you may have offhand but I would definitely see what your options are. A good pain doc can really help to increase your quality of life by getting the pain under control. Good luck! I too have back pain and it is awful-it affects everything in your life! Hope you can get the answers and help you need!
