Most long term addicts require ORT (Opiate Replacement Therapy) as they usually suffer from permanent endorphin deficiency.
Buprenorphene actually allows you to lead a normal life while breaking free of a addicts lifestyle. There are many advantages to staying on Buprenorphene or methadone. The point is. if you are leading a productive life and you're happy then why would you change your medication. Remember also that suboxone (buprenorphene), methadone can and are used chronically and have been deemed safe as long as they are not abused. So hang in there and enjoy your clear head... Dave
